Variety 2026 Education Impact Report (Blurb)

Erika Herndier, head of education at Vancouver Film School, says that the school “continues to evolve its approach to provide flexible learning options (i.e., our new Hybrid Production Model), production-focused training, and a supportive, community-driven environment, ensuring students are not only prepared for the industry, but able to thrive within it.” VFS offers industry-standard facilities, while “we continuously integrate emerging tools and practices — from real-time engines and virtual production pipelines to evolving animation, sound and game design technologies — ensuring students are working with the same systems used in today’s studios.” And industry feedback is important. “We regularly consult with studio partners, alumni and hiring managers to identify skill gaps and anticipate future needs, allowing us to refine course content and introduce new offerings where necessary.”
